An engraved advertising sheet for Thomas Conway, Manchester gun, pistol and crossbow maker, promoting his exclusive proprietorship of patent elliptical gun barrels. Apparently associated with John Beever’s oval-bore patent of 1825, used in surviving Conway sporting guns. An interesting example of early nineteenth-century provincial gunmaking publicity and the commercial promotion of patented improvements. A single sheet, with an engraved area of about 8 x 12 cms.
