Friedrich Bernhard Werner, who was born in Silesia in 1690, lived an adventurous early life as a military engineer and cartographer, dabbled as a quack doctor, worked with a theater in Prague, and translated librettos for traveling performers. After his marriage in 1718, he redirected his efforts towards cultivating his significant artistic and cartographic talents. This dedication led him to engage with several prominent art dealers and map publishers in Augsburg, most notably the heirs of Jeremias Wolff. This coloured reprint is in the same panoramic format as the original, with the sheet measuring approx. 23 x 55 cms, the image being 18 x 53 cms.
