4 pages. With the Royal Coats of Arms title page, and woodcut with initial letter at the start of the act. The complete original printed act, removed from the annual volume for the year. In 1739, Joanna Stephens was paid ££5000 by the British Government for a recipe to cure bladder stones, a fabulous amount of money at that time, equivalent to around ££650,000 today. The medicines were a powder, decoction, and pills. The powder consisted of egg shells and snails, both calcined. The decoction was made by boiling some herbs together with a ball which consisted of soap, swine£££s cresses burnt to a blackness, and honey in water. The pills consisted of snails calcined, wild carrot seeds, burdock feeds, ashen keys, hips and hawes, all burnt to a blackness, with soap and honey. Size: Folio (approx A4 size)..
