A single leaf, from the Germantown PA. Bible of 1743. The first German language Bible printed in America. The 1743 edition was of just 1200 copies, printed by Christopher Saur (the elder, d.1758). The younger Saur inherited the business on his father's death and printed numerous German language publications.
