2000 0751309869 / 9780751309867 Softcover Very Good Condition 12.6 x 0.6 x 17.6 cm
Available Now. Book Description: In the ESSENTIAL COMPUTERS series, this guide for adults and senior school students is written in clear everyday language and illustrated with step-by-step screen grabs taken from the individual software package concerned. : Amazon Review: Browsing the Web is one of a series of books from Dorling Kindersley that provides a pocket sized primer to a computer related topic. In this case as with the rest of the series, the idea is to give a complete newcomer the confidence to approach their chosen subject.: The book begins by explaining what the Web actually is, and the standard components of a typical Web page. Then it moves on to browsers, with Microsoft Internet Explorer as the focus. Having ensured you are familiar with the operation of your Web browser, the next part of the book takes you onto the Web itself, explaining how to open Web pages, use search engines and manage your Favourites. From there you learn more about Explorer internals, such as setting the Home Page, managing the cache and handling security settings. The book uses a good mixture of words and pictures to make its points. There are no long paragraphs of explanation, but instead graphics and clear, concise descriptive text. : At 70 pages there is not enough space in the book to cover every aspect of Web browsing, and it is likely you will soon have absorbed all it can teach and be ready for more. But £4.99 is a small price to pay to get you past those first few tentative steps, and give you the confidence to go off and explore the Web for yourself.--Sandra Vogel : About the Author: Annalisa Milner has an MSc in Computer Science and is particularly expertised in multimedia and the Internet. She also has experience in CD-ROM, website production and e-commerce. -- Size: 12.6 x 0.6 x 17.6 cm. 72 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. How Not To Kill Your Children
UK Allen & Unwin
1968 First Edition Hardcover Very Good Condition Good 8.75 inches tall by 5.5 inches
?Disciplined or undisciplined, they are your children and you will be happier with them than without them. In this book the author of How not to Kill Your Husband and How not to Kill Your Wife advises parents on the health of their children at all ages. The author, who is anonymous for reasons of professional ethics, is a family doctor with a large practice. Besides having wide experience in dealing with children during his many years in general practice the author is a family man who has seen his own children grow up. Of his three children, his son is now a doctor and one daughter a nurse. This book, which will be a valuable health guide to parents, deals with many aspects of bringing up children sensibly. Various aspects of their physical and mental well-being are dealt with in the author's now well known simple but wise and witty style. In the belief that parenthood should be equally shared between them, the book is addressed to both fathers and mothers and, at one point, to teenage children whose problems are discussed in chapters which deal with such topics as drugs, discipline and sex.? Book - in Fine [much better than Very Good] bright off-white boards. Contents, replaced paste downs and end papers otherwise clean, bright and tightly bound. 2007 1405223251 / 9781405223256 Softcover Very Good Condition 13.3 x 1.9 x 20 cm
Available Now. Book Description: The only difference between fear and courage is hope. This is a fresh and powerful story about one girl's strength of character and her journey of hope. Mulumbe's village is plagued by marauders, and then an elephant eats the last of her family's crop. She determines to save her family, and embarks on an adventure fraught with danger: travelling to the famed City of Gold to be reunited with her brother, Tom, and save her family by earning some money. Grandmother tells her many riddles and it is these life lessons that carry her through the obstacles and dangers she encounters: 'Mulumbe, the river of our ancestors flows most strongly through you. Girl, remember your riddle, real strength is found in those who might be thought to be weak.' This story is in part the Africa we know from TV: famine, unrest and refugee camps. But, it also encapsulates the strength of family and hope, and wonderfully portrays the landscape and animals: elephants, hyenas, hares, Mumbo snakes and honey birds. : About the Author: Jonathan and Shirley Tulloch were inspired to write I Am a Cloud, I Can Blow Anywhere because of their experiences living in Africa. Shirley lived among the Tonga people in Zimbabwe for two years with no electricity and no tar roads. Both Jonathan and Shirley lived in Johannesburg for one year where Jonathan was a writer in residence in a local township. Some of the book is based on real events. Jonathan is the Royal Literary Fellow at Teeside University. He has had several novels published for adults: The Season Ticket, The Bonny Lad, The Lottery and Give Us This Day. He is the recipient of the Betty Trask Prize 2000 and the J.B. Priestley Award in 2004, and was on the TLS list of 20 best young writers. 2009 0956363504 / 9780956363503 First Edition Softcover Very Good Condition 25.4 x 0.4 x 17.8 cm
Available Now. Book Description: Monty and Tyler Take the Top Road is a delightful, true story of a horse named Monty and his canine friend, Tyler. Monty, a beautiful Dales Cross Cob, and Tyler, a pedigree black Labrador, achieved 'fame' in the media in the summer of 2005 due to a special and unusual skill they mastered. The story, told through the eyes of the dog, Tyler, demonstrates a tender and trusting bond between the animals, as well as the patience of their fun-loving owner who playfully encourages Monty and Tyler to develop a talent born entirely by chance. Monty and Tyler were the beloved pets of Corporal Sarah Louise Bryant (N?e Feely), a soldier of the Intelligence Corps of the British Army, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on 17th June, 2008. Sarah had often suggested to her father, Des Feely, that the true-life adventures of Monty and Tyler would make a fun and amusing book for children and adults alike. It was this recollection that inspired Mr. Feely to put pen to paper during the months after his daughter's death, which has resulted in a moving and amusing story, lovingly written in memory of Sarah. The book is complemented by more than 40 colour photographs, bringing the true adventures of Monty and Tyler to life, while revealing the joy they brought to Sarah and her family. It is hoped that the book's success will enable Mr. Feely to make donations to various charities that support veterans of war. Size: 25.4 x 0.4 x 17.8 cm. 66 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Moscow Theatre for Children
Moscow Macmillan & Burns & Oates
1934 Hardcover (Original Cloth) Good Condition No Dust Jacket
96 pages, size approximately 7 inches tall by 10 inches. Photos by E S Mikulina, B D Fabisovich, Loni Neumann, S G Rosanov, A S Shaikhet, S O Friedland, Timofeyev and others. In the twelve years of its existence the Moscow Theatre for Children has produced forty-two different plays, given about 4,500 performances, and played to over 3,500,000 children. The photograph shows the Red Banner presented to the theatre by the miners of the Donbas in appreciation of the guest performances there. The Moscow Theatre for Children is first and foremost a theatre. Like every other theatrical organism, it has a permanent company, which consists of 50 actors, playwrights, composers, stage managers, artists, an orchestra, stage-hands, dressmakers, administrators-in short, all the various people that there are in every other theatre. One hundred and seventy-five grown-up people are united by one aspiration-to create for children. And that is why the staff of our theatre also includes teachers, specialists in group games, and professors. But don't get frightened all at once because I tell you that we have artists and teachers together, ail on one job. I shall try to tell you what is the function of each part in the complex organism of the Theatre for Children, and you will understand that while it helps the schools, while it helps in its own way in the education of children, our theatre nevertheless remains a theatre in the full sense of the word. You are probably interested to know how often the the Moscow Theatre for Children gives its performances. Every day. Sometimes even twice a day. The auditorium is built to seat 800 children. As a rule, it is full to over flowing. The Moscow Theatre for Children plays only for children. This however does not lighten the burden of its work in the least-if anything, it has the opposite effect. The children have their own theatre, a real theatre-and this is something which it was difficult even to dream of two decades ago. Book in beige coloured boards with black lettering to front board and a paper label showing a high wire act, pictorial endpapers - some marking and grubbiness to boards, slight bumping to top corners and ends of spine, slight markings to white background of pages, otherwise the contents are generally clean, bright and tightly bound. Dust Jacket - None. A Fascinating and Interesting Book. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Category: Children; Hardcover A298-1035 0.38
