An interesting account of the most famous political meeting in English history. Contains a long account of the trial of Hunt and others (about 162 pages), the trial of Francis Burdett (about 85 pages), and an uncommon account of the action against the Manchester Yeomanry for assault (about 95 pages), and an selection of previously unpublished papers from the Treasury and Home Office papers explaining references in the trials (7 pages). Also a short account regarding the use of soldiers in suppressing riots, wage tables for Manchester 1810-1819, and an attractive colour lithograph plan of St Peter's Field, 1819. 352 pages, printed in double columns, along with a coloured lithograph map (8 x 11 inches). All contained in a complete 1888 published volume of 724 pages. Bound in contemporary boards with red buckram spine, gilt lettered. Binding dulled by age, the corners of the boards are rubbed.
