Boston: Ticknor and Company, Undated, 1886. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Item #258093-H
An original portfolio featuring 21 large black and white photographs (33 x 41 cms paper size, images 28 x 22 cms) each on a separate sheet, along with two plans (similar size). The whole contained in the original printed portfolio. Printed by the Heliotype Printing Company for Ticknor and Company, Publishers. Richardson is widely considered to be one of the top three American architects, with a unique style of work known as 'Richardson Romanesque' and public uses, such as libraries, train stations and halls, each of which is represented in the Ames collection of pictures offered here. The pictures are in excellent condition, with very few marks to the plain surrounding areas and no marks to the pictures (so very suitable for framing). There is a printed list of the plates (which are all present as required) on the inside of the front cover. The portfolio itself is a little marked and certainly worn, with the ties absent, corners rubbed and worn with loss, and the spine splitting and with loss of cloth the length of the spine. None of this detracts from the contents which have been well protected in the portfolio for the last 133 years or so, and remain very vibrant and bright. Quite uncommon. Size: Large folio (34 x 41 cms). Quantity Available: 1. Category: Antiquarian & Rare; Featured; New Arrivals; Architecture. Inventory No: 258093-H.
