Bookseller's Token Cufflinks, 1797. A W.M. Rusher. Hatter, Bookseller, Stationer, Banbury Token made into a pair of cufflinks.

1797 Fair Condition
W.M. Rusher Bookseller. A pair of rare 1797 Half Penny Tokens, made of Copper, and 28mm in diameter (a little over one inch). See photographs for details. Each of the cufflinks shows a three-quarter facing bust of W. M. Rusher, lettered W. Rusher, Hatter, Bookseller, Stationery, Banbury. Though undated, we have sold the token before with the date of 1797 printed on the reverse of the portrait side, and there is no reason to think these will be from a significantly different date. The cufflinks are obviously made up later from two of the tokens, and again there is no exact clue to their date, but a reasonable guess would by there were finished in the last 100 years or so. CROWN COPYRIGHT RESERVED. LIBERATION OF EUROPE: FRONT LINE R.A.F. SUPPORT FOR THE ARMY. R.A.F. Rocket Firing Typhoons have given the Army what is probably the closest air support of the war, attacking targets behind enemy lines from the air strips within three miles of the Front Line and under shell fire. When the Army called for a certain target to be destroyed by the Typhoons, the R.A.F. answered the call in record time. Briefing took place at 3.30; the pilots took off at 3.45 - and after getting to their aircraft from Flying Control, starting up and taxying to take-off point - they were attacking their target at 4 o'clock; were back over their landing strip with wheels down at two minutes past four; had landed at five past four; and were being interrogated at ten past four. The target was so close to the airfield that the ground crews could watch their Typhoons dive down and release their rockets, and were able to see the subsequent explosions. Manchester Corporation Gas Works. Instructions to Consumers to Water the Gas Meter. With List of Gas Tubers, authorised by the Gas Committee to Fit-Up Shops, Warehouses, etc., with Gas Tubing.
I.W. Petty, Printer, 69 King Street, Manchester.
Undated, but earlier than 1888. Not applicable Good Condition
Edges a little ragged and torn, and dusty. Printed on a single sheet, 8.5 x 13.5 inches. See picture for details. A very rare survivor from the era when Gas Meters were water operated. Likely to have been stored where the meter was mounted. The vast majority of which would have been thrown away when the meter was replaced by newer technology. The gas works in King Street / Albert Street were established in 1817, and had been knocked down by 1888, and this leaflet gives the address as Gas Office, 55 King Street, hence the likely date of prior to 1888. Merit Railway HO/OO Gauge W.H. Smith Booksellers & Newsagents Stand. In Original Box.
1960-65
1965 Not Applicable Fine Condition
Plastic casting. 74mm long x 37mm tall x 34mm deep. This little bookstall and newsagents stand is undated, but most likely made during the mid 1960s (based upon the clothing worn by the figures on the box) and the manufacturers, Merit, had ceased by the mid 1970s or so. An evocative relic of the railways and streets from half a century ago. A really nice example in an uncommon original box. The bookstall is virtually mint, apparently never used, nor left out of the box. The box itself has a small tear near one flap, and the toy shop price has been written on one flap in pen, but is in fine and uncrushed condition. Quantity Available: 1.
